The WA Limestone group of companies has been involved in some of Western Australia's largest infrastructure projects, including:
New Perth Bunbury HighwayThe $750 million New Perth Bunbury Highway project involved the design and construction of 70.5 kilometres of dual carriageway. The road stretches from the Kwinana Freeway at Safety Bay Road in Baldivis, around the eastern side of the Peel Inlet and Harvey Estuary, to join the existing dual carriageway on Old Coast Road at Lake Clifton.
Industry leaders Leighton Contractors, WA Limestone and GHD united to work alongside Main Roads Western Australia as the Southern Gateway Alliance (SGA). This partnership managed the planning, construction and delivery of the single biggest road project ever undertaken in Western Australia.
WA Limestone was responsible for organisation, movement, supply and onsite extraction of all raw materials for the project. This included the movement and supply of 12 million tonnes of sand, two million tonnes of limestone and one million tonnes of granite roadbase.

www.sgalliance.com.au Mandurah Entrance RoadSouthern Gateway Alliance (SGA), comprising Leighton Contractors, WA Limestone and GHD has been selected by Main Roads Western Australia as the preferred provider for the design and construction of the new Mandurah Entrance Road. The Road will extend approximately seven kilometres from the New Perth Bunbury Highway in Lakelands to Mandurah Road, in the vicinity of the Mandurah train station.
The Mandurah Entrance Road will not only become the direct link to the Kwinana Freeway for Mandurah road users, but will provide primary access across the new freeway for residential communities located to the east in Stake Hill.
WA Limestone is responsible for organisation, movement, supply and onsite extraction of all raw materials for the project. Additional information can be found at the Southern Gateway Alliance website:
www.sgalliance.com.auPerth Mandurah Railway LineThe $1.66 billion MetroRail project is the largest public transport infrastructure project ever undertaken in Western Australia, and has effectively doubled the Perth metropolitan rail network.
The Mandurah rail line is comprised of 72 kilometres of double-track railway, 11 stations, 774metres of twin tunnels underneath the Perth CBD, 20 bridges and structures, significant road and civil works, a 25kV overhead wiring system, and two electrical substations.
WA Limestone and WA Bluemetal supplied all of the limestone, granite roadbase and rail ballast for the project, across a two year period. Through this process, WA Limestone met a very tight production and delivery schedule, to ensure the provision of all raw materials on time and on budget.
Perth Seawater Desalination PlantThe Perth Seawater Desalination Plant, located 40 kilometres south of Perth at Kwinana, started supplying water to the Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS) in November 2006.
It is the Water Corporation's biggest single water source feeding into the IWSS, providing for 17 percent of Perth's water needs. On average, the plant produces up to 130 million litres of drinking water per day, or 45 gigalitres per year.
WA Bluemetal supplied Granite Armour rocks and spalls that formed a protection for the water pipes that run along the seabed and transport the water to the desalination plant. The project supply was over a six month period.
Kwinana Freeway Interchanges and Extension ProjectThe $132 million Kwinana Freeway Project spanned over 35 kilometres from Berrigan Drive in Jandakot, to Safety Bay Road Baldivis. In total, 12 bridges, seven pedestrian underpasses, three railway tunnels and in excess 35 kilometres of freeway and roadworks were constructed in a very short time frame.
This complex multi-faceted project was complete by June 23 2001; five months ahead of the schedule and 20 months after the contract award date.
WA Limestone and WA Bluemetal supplied the Fill Sand, Limestone and Granite Roadbase for the project. The two year supply period involved the extraction and movement of large amounts of raw material. WA Limestone operated on day and night shifts to ensure that the project was completed on time.
